ABOUT ME
I am proud and honoured to be standing for the Conservative and Unionist Party for Newry and Armagh.
I have a background as a qualified accountant and have worked in industry as well as in a family agricultural businesses.
For 8 years I was elected as a councillor dealing with constituents and helping them with access to services and other matters. For 7 of those years I was a cabinet member of the administration and held various portfolios which enabled me to make a difference to the area - such as building an award winning leisure centre, transforming the library service into a nationally recognised model of success and transforming the council IT. In the last 4 years I was deputy leader which meant I could do other projects such as with world wide businesses, housing development and town planning.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking new recipes, sport and spending time with my family and friends. I am also a volunteer and trustee of charities and a governor of an NHS Trust.
My Plan for Newry and Armagh:
- Work hard for people and local businesses. I will be a strong voice for Newry and Armagh people and businesses in Westminster to get investment and make changes. Being a good constituency MP is important to me to listen, help and deliver.
- Drive change to improve services. I want to make education better for future generations and health services to help everyone live longer and healthier. These are among the core services we need from central government which really affect our ability to live the best lives and aspire to a better future.
- Support rural communities. I want to Improve farming and agricultural related businesses and improve the rural economy. The economy is really the driving factor to help build a secure future to give investment and jobs. The dignity of work is important to unlock everyone’s potential.
