A young archer has “achieved something phenomenal”, by ensuring that two gold or silver medals will be returning to Northern Ireland from the World Archery Youth Championships in China, according to NI Conservatives’ co-chair, Trevor RIngland. Seventeen year old Patrick Huston, from east Belfast, shot through to the individual final, while Patrick and his Team GB teammate, Becky Martin, have reached the mixed team final.
“These are stunning accomplishments by Patrick who is ensuring that the UK team has a memorable World Youth Championships, along with his teammate, Becky”, Trevor noted. “I would like to congratulate him and the other Northern Ireland archers, Jordan Mitchell and Rebecca Lennon, who together make up a third of the nine person British team.”
“This is another example of our province punching above its weight in world sport. Everyone in Northern Ireland should be very proud of our young archers and we wish Patrick the best of luck in their finals. Archery in the UK obviously has a very bright future and it’s great that competitors from Northern Ireland are among its brightest hopes.”
