NI Conservative Environment and Regional Development spokesman Bill Manwaring has called upon DRD Minister Danny Kennedy to ‘stand up’ to his Executive colleagues.
Speaking after hundreds of homes were damaged in another night of flooding, Bill said, “The scenes we are seeing after this latest flooding highlight the failure of this Executive to provide properly even the most basic services to the people of Northern Ireland.”
“I call on Minister Kennedy to stand up to his Executive colleagues. With the constant waste of public funds, the absence of a credible plan to modernise our water infrastructure and a lack of action from those in Stormont, Minister Kennedy needs to start speaking up for the people who are repeatedly suffering from this failure.
“If Minister Kennedy cannot guarantee sufficient funding to respond to this worsening problem then he needs to reconsider the reason that he has accepted this ministerial portfolio.”
