A spokesman for the NI Conservatives, Harry Cullen, has hailed the new Metropolitan Arts Centre (MAC) in Belfast, which opens on Friday 20th April, as “another major boost for culture and tourism in Northern Ireland”.
“Hot on the heels of developments like the Titanic Signature Project, the new Lyric Theatre and the refurbished Ulster Museum, our capital has yet another ‘must visit’ cultural attraction for locals and tourists alike”, Harry commented. “The MAC has already provided valuable jobs in the construction industry and now it will bring new employment, draw visitors and act as a state of the art hub for the Arts in Northern Ireland.”
“The attractions which we have to entice tourists and our general cultural product have improved beyond recognition in recent years. We should be positive and confident about what Northern Ireland has to offer. Signature projects like the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre, cultural gems like the Lyric Theatre, wonderful architecture like the Titanic building, beautiful scenery in areas like the north coast, the Mournes or Fermanagh, as well as world class golf courses and other leisure attractions.“
“The MAC is another important piece in that jigsaw and we need to do all we can to tell prospective tourists why they should come to Northern Ireland.”
