NI Conservatives’ chairman, Irwin Armstrong, has described Baroness Thatcher’s funeral as “a moving, dignified farewell to one of the UK’s greatest ever prime ministers”. The Ballymena businessman represented Conservatives in Northern Ireland at the ceremony in London this morning.
“The funeral was hugely dignified and deeply moving”, Irwin observed. “It was refreshing to see huge crowds line the route, overwhelmingly to pay their respects to Lady Thatcher and show appreciation for the outstanding public service which she gave to this country.”
“I was pleased and honoured to represent the Northern Irish centre-right at the funeral and to pay respects on behalf of the NI Conservatives. Baroness Thatcher has left a tremendous legacy and this morning’s ceremony was a fitting opportunity for the nation to say goodbye, and thank you.”
