The Conservatives have condemned the row over the Renewable Heat Incentive as a ‘sad spectacle’ and called for a judicial review and audit.
“The DUP and the Opposition parties seem more concerned about placing the blame than sorting out the problem. What we need is the detail of a full judicial review and audit to obtain the facts, with a timetable for action, ” commented Alan Dunlop, Chairman of the Conservatives in Northern Ireland.
Mr Dunlop, who runs a major shipping business in Belfast, said the RHI fiasco posed important questions about the ability of Assembly Members to operate Stormont effectively.
“This saga shows the need for UK-wide politics. The insular legacy parties in Northern Ireland have revealed themselves to be clueless on policy and incapable of either effective scrutiny or competent government.”
