The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Theresa Villiers, joined Johnny Andrews, Conservative Party Parliamentary candidate for Strangford, to campaign in Newtownards on Friday, following the party's local manifesto launch.
Afterwards Johnny said 'This is real politics for Strangford. Elect a Conservative MP for Strangford for a stronger UK and get real influence at the heart of government. The local Conservative manifesto makes it clear it is time to rebalance Northern Ireland’s economy. We now have to concentrate on building up jobs, enterprise and skills”.
“Our biggest challenge in Strangford, from Ballynahinch to Portaferry, is youth unemployment. The executive is failing our youth on education and skills”, Johnny continued.
“The Executive needs urgently to address issues around competitiveness, to kick start the private sector, making Northern Ireland work and contribute to a stronger United Kingdom. Only Conservatives in government can protect the Stormont House Agreement and deliver a brighter future for a stronger Northern Ireland within the UK.”
