NI Conservatives’ spokesman, Trevor Ringland, has condemned an attempt by dissident republicans to bomb a police station in Londonderry. He also expressed concern about a series of suspicious devices, which have been found in various parts of Northern Ireland.
“The police must be congratulated on their vigilance in foiling the attack in Derry”, Trevor said. “It’s worrying and disappointing, though, that small numbers of fanatics still want to drag Northern Ireland back into a past which we ought to have left far behind. Their deranged schemes to bring murder and mayhem to our streets are utterly self-defeating.”
“There will always be a tiny minority of people intent on spoiling this place for everyone. However their actions should make the rest of us more determined to improve relationships in Northern Ireland, make the economy work and build a shared and stable society.”
