Northern Ireland Conservatives’ chairman, Irwin Armstrong and the Northern Ireland secretary of state, Owen Paterson MP, visited the Feltham and Heston constituency on Monday, to lend their support to the Conservative candidate, Mark Bowen, ahead of a Westminster by-election scheduled for 15th December. Irwin also attended a Conservative National Strategy Team Meeting, to discuss campaign strategy.
“We had a very useful meeting”, Irwin confirmed, “with the Conservative Director of Campaigning, Stephen Gilbert, briefing the team on the progress of the campaign so far. We were also able to touch upon the strategy for future elections across the UK and the impact of the suggested boundary changes which are currently out to consultation.”
“Conservatives from across the UK work hard to win seats and help out at by-elections wherever they arise in the country. That’s the benefit of having a UK wide membership and the support of a highly professional, campaign network. The Northern Ireland Conservatives are now fully plugged into that national network and it will be a huge advantage to have so much knowledge, expertise and experience behind us.”
“I’m delighted to be in Feltham and Heston backing our candidate, Mark Bowen, to become the next MP. As local Conservatives it’s very important for us to participate fully in national politics and we are the only party which currently has that UK wide outlook.”
