The Scottish referendum result is “a resounding vote of confidence for our United Kingdom”, according to NI Conservatives’ spokesman, Mark Brotherston.
“We are delighted that our Scottish kith and kin agree that we’re better together”, Mark commented. “Despite all of Salmond’s lies, despite the bullying, despite manipulating the poll by changing the voting age and despite setting a loaded question, the people of Scotland have made a decisive choice for the United Kingdom. This is a decision which will last for a generation.”
“Unfortunately, at Stormont we have a set of parties who most closely resemble the SNP, whatever their constitutional preference. The referendum emphasises the need for genuine, UK wide national parties, rather than the Ulster nationalists who pose as unionists in Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is safe, but we are living in a time of profound change and it is vital that there is a genuine, pro-Union voice at the heart of politics.”
