NI Conservatives’ European candidate, Mark Brotherston, handed in his nomination papers for the forthcoming European Parliamentary Election yesterday, at the Electoral Office in Belfast.
“I’m the only candidate who can become part of the full Conservative Party team at Brussels”, Mark stressed. “That means influence where it counts and a mandate to reform Europe to work better for Northern Ireland and the whole of the UK. The NI Conservatives are the only centre-right party on the ballot paper. We will always prioritise creating jobs, rewarding hard work, encouraging strong families and building a stable, integrated community.”
“We’re also pledged to give people their say on European Union membership in 2017, after the UK’s relationship with Brussels has been renegotiated by the Prime Minister. David Cameron has offered strong leadership when it comes to the EU, cutting its bloated budget and preventing a new treaty, which would have favoured Eurozone countries. I believe Northern Ireland benefits from being part of Europe, but we need the EU to get back to its original purpose of allowing free trade, rather than creating bureaucracy.”
