David Symington has won the North Down Conservative Association's prize draw for sponsorship to this year’s party conference.
The Conservative Party Conference will this year be held in Birmingham in early October, but due to travel and accommodation expenses it can often be difficult for younger members to afford to attend the four day event. The association has therefore started a competition to have costs paid, which is open to all North Down party members who belong to the Conservative youth wing, Conservative Future.
North Down Conservative Association chairman, Paul Leeman, said "We're delighted to be able to help all of our younger party members in whatever way we can. We know that the N.I. Conservatives will play a major role in Northern Irish politics in years to come and so we're keen to develop our membership in preparation for this."
David Symington said, "I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone in the association for their very kind generosity in making this happen, as going to conference can be very expensive for young people. The party's clear commitment to the development of it's younger members is testament to the party's long term plans for the future of Northern Ireland. I hope that over the coming years I'm able to repay the association with the experiences and contacts that I will glean from this exciting trip."
Anyone under the age of 30 who is interested in joining Conservative Future can get more information from the party office in High Street, Bangor.
