A Conservative candidate has told the IFA that they need to get to the bottom of the Euro 2016 ticket fiasco which has seen thousands of fans with 18 priority points left with no tickets at all.
Neil Wilson, Conservative candidte for East Belfast, said: “I was lucky enough to get tickets for all three games but people I’ve been going to home and away games with since the late 1990s have ended up with nothing. Clearly something has gone badly wrong.
“UEFA needs to be assured that Northern Ireland isn’t a soft touch. Thousands of our supporters potentially missing out on our proudest moment for 30 years is an unacceptable situation.
“Many have already booked flights in anticipation of being awarded tickets. They need specific answers.
“Now is the time for the IFA to step up to the plate, rather than continue to wallow in the culture of silence that pervaded the collapse of the Kop last year.”
