A new opinion poll shows that support for the Conservatives in Northern Ireland is “increasing quickly”, according to party spokesman, Frank Shivers. The poll, conducted by respected polling company Lucid Talk for the Belfast Telegraph newspaper, showed the Tories ahead of NI21 and the PUP and on a par with the Green Party, UKIP and the TUV.
“The poll shows that support for the Conservative Party locally has nearly doubled, in the months since the general election, where we’d also made considerable progress, more than doubling the previous year’s European election result”, Frank pointed out. “It shows that people are fed up with the current Stormont parties and are ready for an alternative, which emphasises everyday issues, the economy and common-sense politics.”
“We’ll continue to work hard for people around Northern Ireland, talk to them on the doorsteps and persuade them that Conservative candidates can win seats and make a difference at the Assembly, in the next election. Voters are crying out for different options and the Conservative Party offers the chance to change politics here for the better and hold the old Stormont parties to account.”
