NI Conservatives’ chairman and Ballymena businessman, Irwin Armstrong, has welcomed the latest contract won by the Galgorm based coach-building company, Wrightbus. The County Antrim firm has secured a £41 million deal to supply vehicles to SBS Transit in Singapore.
“This contract is wonderful news for Wrightbus and wonderful news for Ballymena”, Irwin said. “The company’s success should inspire other Northern Irish companies. With the correct approach to design, innovation and a ‘can do’ attitude, our firms can compete with the very best on an international stage”.
“Wrightbus uses the very latest technology to make sure its products are at the cutting edge of bus design. That’s why the company is so successful and how it can consistently win large contracts in important export markets, creating and maintaining jobs and bringing money into our economy”.
“The success of firms like Wrightbus proves that Northern Ireland has international standard companies. We just don’t have enough of them. This type of export focussed business, which relies on the highest standards of innovation and design, is a model for other enterprises from Northern Ireland”.
