The Conservative PPC for Strangford, Johnny Andrews, has demanded answers on the future of the post office in Ballynahinch and the future of the town bus service.
“The current difficulty in accessing the post office is unacceptable”, Johnny commented. “Meanwhile, we hear the Minister of Finance announcing he has provided extra money for the bus service, yet Regional Development Minister, Danny Kennedy, previously said that the extra £5m allocation was to keep street lights on. Ballynahinch deserves better and people certainly deserve clearer answers,”
“Is this a case of one arm of government bullying the other, or is it a case of both the UUP and the DUP trying to take credit for the same announcement? Threatening cuts and then giving a last minute reprieve is government by crisis management. The truth is the executive parties have no idea how to manage a budget and few of the current crop of politicians have any business experience.”
“The bus service and post office are life lines for the people of Ballynahinch and the fact that there is doubt over their future, shows politicians are failing the town. It is essential these services are saved to ensure Ballynahinch remains a vibrant town.”
